The Village's Questions & Answers What is The Village Church All About? Youve got questions. Weve got the answers. Below you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions of new visitors. If you have more questions after reading through all of the information below, then just e-mail us and well get back to you as soon as possible. When does the Village have services? We have two worship services on Sunday's at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. A Community Bible Study is held each Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. What is the difference between the Saturday evening service and the two Adult Bible study classes?? On Sunday mornings, you'll find contemporary praise and worship in celebration of God's goodness; dramas; cutting edge multimedia; and more. The message is relevant to life and something practical that even someone who has never attended church before will understand. Our Community Bible Study is much like our Sunday morning services except the message is a deeper Bible study. It's a study geared toward the believer who is looking to encounter a deeper walk with God. After Bible Study each week, we usually go fellowship as a group at one of the restaurants near the church. Where do I park? We have several parking spaces in the rear of our building. The Village Church also has an agreement with the Perk Place Bistro and Cole's Transmission to use their parking lots. Public parking is also available on Central Avenue. What do people wear at The Village? Anytime you visit, you’ll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in anything from suit and tie to jeans and sneakers. What will it be like when I visit for the first time? At the front door, there should be some friendly people (we call them "greeters") to say hello, answer any questions you have, and direct you to the sanctuary. The service usually begins with some upbeat music, followed by a welcome and introduction to the service. Many times, there is a drama or multimedia presentation to further explore the theme or topic which we will be studying. Then someone will offer a prayer, and Pastor Ray (or another speaker) will begin the message. Pastor Ray usually speaks for about 30 minutes. He does his best to make the messages interesting, enjoyable, and relevant to daily life. The message will be based on the Bible, and will often include interesting quotes from contemporary people, songs, or movies. The Praise Team does a great job leading the music, with a contemporary feel (drums, guitars, keyboards, vocalists). You'll have some new songs to hum all week long. Will I be asked to give money? We want you to feel welcome as our guest, with no pressure to give. Our regular attenders will put their contributions in the offering as it is passed. Many of our members contribute with debit cards or credit cards after the service. We also use the offering time to collect prayer requests and information cards. What about my kids - do they come into the service with me or is there something going on for them? Our children's ministry provides exciting experiences for infants, toddlers, and kids through fifth grade. This allows you to get the most from your experience at The Village while your child is receiving high levels of care, attention, teaching - and fun! If you have kids, our greeters can point you to the kids' classes. There are kids' programs available during the service. Our youth group (High School & Middle School) meets each Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a Bible Study, sharing, and some really cool music. How long do the services last and what happens afterward? Service will close about an hour after they begin (and believe it or not, the time will fly). Then, you'll pick up your kids from their classrooms, have the opportunity to introduce yourself to the pastor, meet with a member of our prayer team, or stick around for a while and get to know a few new people. How do I get to The Village? Click here to get directions to the church. Will I have to say anything, sign anything, give anything, or be singled out in any way? At The Village, you'll never be put on the spot, never singled-out, and never embarrassed. You won't be asked to participate in the offering. You don't have to sign anything or register your attendance in any way (unless you place your child in our children's ministry - for your child's security, we'll need to get some basic information). Our hope is that you'll let the service be our gift to you and that you'll know we're here for you! If you can think of more questions, please feel free to contact us!
